The fourth generation Sorento was officially unveiled through a series of images on February 17, 2020.

The updated Sorento sports a larger design with an extended wheelbase (35 mm (1 in) longer) while the vehicle’s overall length is extended by 10 mm (0 in), two engine options: a hybrid (a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder and single electric motor, amounting to 227 hp (230 PS; 169 kW) and 258 lb⋅ft (350 N⋅m; 35.7 kg⋅m) of torque) and a traditional gasoline-only engine (a 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, matched with an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, output at 227 hp (230 PS; 169 kW) and 310 lb⋅ft (420 N⋅m; 43 kg⋅m). A plug-in hybrid variation and additional gasoline engine options is also being planned, along with a multi-collision brake system and a remote smartphone surround view monitor.
