Mega Home Science Event 2019 organized by UOP

College of Home Economics, University of Peshawar organized Mega Home Science Event 2019. There will be Science Model Competition and Quiz Competition for female students of Schools/ Colleges and University.

Around 13 colleges from across the province took part in the science event. Over 100 science models had been put on exhibit at the 38 stalls. Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Information Technology (IT) Kamran Bangash was the chief guest.

Kamran Bangash said that the IT department was operational quick to facilitate general commuters at public bus stand Peshawar with free Wifi service. 25 government colleges would be supported to have free internet facility and Wifi service.

There’s a need to engage academics in his IT initiatives through mutual collaborations and consequently Kohat, Bannu, Haripur and Abbottabad universities will be taken over and snub completely in IT sector by the department as a pilot project.

Kamran Bangash, as a part of the clean and green drive, planted a sapling along the Principal Prof Farhatun Nisa Shehzad at the college. Afterward, he along with organizers visited each stall at the exhibition and admired the enthusiastic girls in the scientific meadow.

Students come up with the screen, block, and batik techniques of textile and clothing exhibition that needs to be accredited and opens endorsement for the fashion designs on a larger canvass to go for a large scale production.

Dr Sarah Safdar awarded the prizes, certificates and shields to the participants of the mega home science event 2019. Hayatabad Girls Degree College, won the first position in the science event.

And Peshawar Medical College won the quiz competition. The Home Economics College student won the first position in individual science innovative model.

Circle Women “Tech Karo” program successfully ended on 19th January at Karachi School of Business and Leadership (KSBL) successfully concludes with 50 tech graduates to pitch the corporate environment.

Tech Karo Chief Guest was British Deputy High Commissioner Elin Burns. Jahangir Paracha CEO Engro Vopak, Tahira Raza former President First Women Bank, Dr. Zahir Syed Vice Chancellor Usman Institute of Technology (UIT) and Dr. Shoaib Zaidi Professor and Head of Academics at UIT were also present at the graduation ceremony.

Tech Karo initiative is enthusiastic to women empowerment in technology through entrepreneurship, digital skills and innovative leadership.

The program candidates were given disclosure to different web development environments and trained coding alongside other professional skills that are required in the corporate environment nowadays. 

62% of the graduates were female that bring light to the event and around 30 graduates have been placed on internships with companies such as 10 Pearls and Ibex Global after receiving tech mentorship in the program.

Cisco Academy to be set up in UCP Lahore

The global initiative Cisco Academy to be set up in Lahore in UCP (University of Central Punjab). UCP now formally certified to provide courses and certifications like CCNA and CCNP  by Cisco Academy.

Dr. Ahmad Kazmi unlocked the ceremony, commends the importance of Cisco Academy; and explained how UCP is going to adjust their curriculum for Cisco Academy to function properly. Courses like Entrepreneurship to be added in pertinent departments with the cooperation of Cisco.

Mr. Mohamed Jinini, Regional Head Cisco Academy then thanked the UCP faculty for their generosity. He accentuates the role of Cisco by sharing the fact that 70%of the devices connected to the internet are Cisco made.

The academy is offering entry-level courses not only engineers but also for students of Law and Medicine, further added.

Cisco Academy offers 20 courses in different categories like exploratory courses, cybersecurity courses and market certifications (advanced courses).

Students qualified for advanced coursed should be at least in their current year. Students with advanced certification can apply for jobs directly after certifications. While no official fees were discussed during the event.

Mr. Jinini concluding saying that meeting scheduled with HEC for a re-launch program to create more job opportunities in Pakistan with Cisco.

This is the right time for Pakistani market to use such a platform and reinforce the skill-set of youth in order to break through the tech market.

Cisco’s current investments in this podium are around $200 million. Cisco reserved to invest 2/3 of their revenue in such opportunities to make it their way of giving back to the community.

Anisuddin Sheikh, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Base Technologies said Dante had been writing stock exchange reports for the past few days. The robot journalist is also competent of sports and weather reporting.

Bot will be outfitted to report on different sectors like health, education and culture and is free from human errors and unbiased.

Business journalist Dante is in fact a software bot that can be employed by the financial sector including securities tax houses and asset management firms for writing wide-ranging financial reports to look for assistance on investment and divestment decisions.

Keeping in line, Usman Dar peculiar assistant to the Prime Minister on Youth Affairs embrace a meeting with a team of German Development Scheme GIZ to explore various path of collaboration for the development of a competent NJP.

National Job Programme (NJP) consists of vocational training of youth in preeminent of TVET institutes, and their placements in pertinent industries to encourage national economic growth.

Furthermore, youth trained in high-end technologies in the fields of construction, hospitality, artificial intelligence, e-mobility and robotics would also endow to seek jobs in the international markets.

GIZ would rank the existing TVET sector institutes in the country based on the quality of their training programmes agreed in the Youth affairs job programme meeting.

Prime Minister’s Youth Programme would enlist top ranking institutes to communicate skills training to youth for a more productive employment under its National Job Programme.

Usman Dar valued GIZ for their role in the development of TVET sector in Pakistan, and articulated hope to influence their expertise in the meadow for creating better employment opportunities for the youth.
