The three Sub Task Forces also gave the endorsement concerning on IT, Telecom and Human Resource Development sectors.

PM Task Force on IT and Telecom meeting was chaired by Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication (MOITT) Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Dr. Atta-ur-Rehman as Co-Chairman whereas, Secretary MOITT Maroof Afzal was also present in meeting.

Dr. Atta-ur-Rehman said that as a substitute of developing land for setting up special technology zones, existing buildings or infrastructure can be chosen as special technology zones to bolster Information Technology in the country.

PM Task Force Co-Chairman further added that range should be allocated in right manner and emphasized the need of promoting locally manufacturing products like mobile phones, computers, laptops etc.

It was also projected that IT linked small and medium enterprises (SMEs) should be empowered by establishing out of the ordinary technology zones. It was also suggested to develop digital content for all subjects at schools and colleges more to the point benevolent to IT training to students.

Moreover, moving ahead to the telecom sector the members of sub task force noticed that among the globe the uppermost telecom taxes were in Pakistan which must be lessen adding upto 12.5 percent Advance Income Tax on internet must be zero.

Cancer Research Center Soon erect at Punjab varsity

A two day Group of Intellectuals and Researchers of Pakistan (GRIP’s) second international symposium held at Punjab University Faisal Auditorium with reference to cancer sciences, pharmaceutical, research, oncology, food-agricultural sciences and technology by national and international organizations.

The symposium, exhibition jointly structured by Group of Intellectuals and Researchers of Pakistan (GRIP), Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan, Punjab Food Authority, Punjab Health Department, Surgical Oncology Society, various pharmaceutical companies academic and research institutions.

Professor Niaz Ahmad Punjab University Vice Chancellor has announced to establish cancer research center at Punjab University. A welcoming sign that academia and industry were joining hands in this regard.

Prof Niaz added that there was need of working against cancer at national level and it is the obligation of the institutions of research and higher erudition to dole out humanity.

Higher authorities are obliged to work for providing reasonably priced medicine to cure such diseases to put a stop to severe hazards. He appreciated the efforts of Dr Zeeshan Danish for launching Pakistan Cancer Awareness Program (P-CAP) to create awareness among people adjacent to the disease.

Dr Zeeshan Danish chief organizer, Dr Hamid Saeed, Dean Faculty of Engineering and Technology Prof Dr Taqi Zahid Butt, Institute of Agricultural Sciences Director Prof Dr Saleem Haider, Chief Medical Officer Dr Tahseen Zameer, senior faculty members, legislative body of diverse pharmaceutical companies and manufacturing institutions and a bulky number of students were there on the international symposium.

Co2 Smart Executive Club launched at NED University

“CO2 Smart Executive Club” initiative launched at NED University of Engineering and Technology by Sindh Governor Imran Ismail aimed to demonstrate the effects of plantation in real time to ensure oxygen friendly environment.

The Geo-tagging technology for plantation would be ensured to keep a watch on the saplings planted under “The carbon dioxide (CO2) smart Executive club.”

The smart executive club is working on devising a method under Geo-tagging technology to ballpark proportion of oxygen and carbon dioxide in dissimilar areas of the city and consequently by planting more saplings in carbon dioxide CO2 condensed areas to make sure oxygen friendly environment.

DOU Signed between HEC & CAS on Earth Sciences

Confer to the establishment of Pak-China Research Centre on Earth Sciences Document of Understanding (DOU) was signed between Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and Higher Education Commission of Pakistan with an aim to improve resilience to natural hazards.

Delegation of Chinese Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment visited Pakistan to discussed DOU. The CPJRC anticipated to have a Board of Governors who’s Co-Chairmen would be President CAS and Chairman HEC.

Chengdu-based Professor Yu Lei admired Pakistan government’s efforts in strengthening academic research and scientific ties between the two countries. Professor Lei emphasized that CAS planned to endow CPJRC with a modern and technically-advanced infrastructure with a cutting-edge lab having supercomputers and hi-tech facilities housed in it.

Mudassir Tipu, highlighted the China-Pakistan Joint Research Centre on Earth Sciences (CPJRC) that play a significant role in promoting safety, security, and resilience of the projects and will also help acquire strongest bond between academic and scientific community.

According to the conditions of DOU Pakistani students will be encouraged to embark on higher studies and advanced research in China on spirited basis. Furthermore, DOU will create opportunities for ensuing applied research between educational institutions of two countries.

PTA, ISOC & COMSATS to endow ‘Online Interactive Remote Education’

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA)  accompanying with Internet Society (ISOC) Asia-Pacific Bureau and COMSATS Internet Services Limited to endow with online interactive remote education to 6thgradestudents of a Government Girls High School in rural Multan; connected last year as part of ISOC’s Wireless for Communities (W4C) program.

The remote education project aimed to make available free extra academic help to students for better understanding of their study material. This enhancement education has been delivered by conveying an exclusive learning experience that is basically different from their all-purpose textbooks.

TeleTaleem, a well-known and knowledgeable tele-education contributor was also hired to bring real-time online lectures of English, Mathematics and Science through an interactive classroom environment from Islamabad.
The content delivered by teachers had been intended to make more use of activities, conceptual approach, substitute education and online resources.

Chairman Pakistan Telecommunication Authority Dr. Syed Ismail Shah, said that the government has always been encouraging of ideas that make the best use of innovative technologies.

The Internet is the core of socio-economic development in future and this project has been introduced so that young girls could competently use the internet.
